Sheriff Samuel Dunston

On October the 15th, 2018, Samuel Dusnton took the oath of office and was sworn in as the 32nd Sheriff of Los Santos County.

Sheriff Dunston was born in Paleto Bay, San Andreas in 1966. He began his law enforcement career in 1987, graduating from the Los Santos Police Department's combined Police Academy, sponsored by the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department. In 1995, Dunston was appointed Director of the Sheriff's Information Bureau, where he lead and organized public events, releases and press conferences, and established the Department's first goal for transparency. Gaining traction with the Executive Leadership, Dunston found himself the recipient of the Unit Commander Award in 1997 for his work in the Sheriff's Information Bureau. Later next year, in 1998, Dunston was promoted to Lieutenant of the Support Division.

As a Lieutenant, Dunston continued his work for transparency and community interaction. Hosting Press Conferences and leading the Department's mission for excellence. In 2005, Dunston was selected of a short-list to attend a conference for national certifications on Community Policing, lead by LSPD Police Chief William Bratton. When Dunston returned from this national conference, Dunston eagerly began to expand the department's interaction with schools, the youth, and coordination with other community branches.

In early 2007, Lieutenant Dunston was named Bureau Commander for the Personnel and Administration Bureau and promoted to the rank of Captain. Leading the strongest administration arm of the Sheriff's Department, Dunston became notorious for his efforts to analyze promotional candidates individually, resulting in promotions of some of the most progressive leaders to date. In 2018, when Sheriff Jim McDonnell announced his retirement, Samuel Dunston was quick to launch a campaign for the position of Los Santos County Sheriff. Running his campaign on promises for internal reform, boosting Field Staff's recognition and benefits, and easing the work load on them, Captain Dunston won the 2018 election with a close 59% vote.

Today, Sheriff Dunston works for his Field Staff, crafting programs and aids to benefit his employees, train them to be better law enforcers and leaders.. and to establish a wonderful career, with many possibilities.
